Protecting job seekers from scams
MS WordVersion 1, August 2024
The recruitment industry has seen a recent rise in recruitment fraud. Scammers have become more adept at impersonating recruitment businesses, resorting to more sophisticated and less detectable methods. Examples of such scams include fake adverts on reputable and established job boards, and scams impersonating recruitment businesses via text, WhatsApp and email.
It is important for REC members to remain vigilant and informed on recent iterations of recruitment scams. Members should also ensure that they have processes in the place to not only protect their business, but also to make work seekers aware of ongoing scams to avoid any commercial or reputational damage that may arise from a scammer impersonating them.
