REC Advisory Council - Terms of Reference
Purpose
At a time of significant change for the industry and for the market, we want to ensure that the decisions the REC makes on products, services and content are rooted in the insight on the everyday challenges and opportunities that recruitment businesses are grappling with.
The Advisory Council plays a crucial role in ensuring that members are at the heart of what the REC delivers. For the 2024-2028 strategy period we are asking council members to shape the translation of strategy into action in a way that will add the most value to our member companies and ensure that the REC is seen as a critical partner to their business journey.
What does this mean in practice?
The council will be a key conduit between the board, REC executive and the membership. Council members will be asked to represent member opinion and offer views on the future direction and potential opportunities within the REC offer and what is prioritised. This could include format and content of the training and professional pathway, key topics and case studies for business advice or potential innovation collaboration and ventures.
Members will also be asked to act as an ambassador and representative of their geographic area, business type or sector and play an active role in developing member networks and communities to support good practice and peer sharing within the industry.
By applying for a role on council you will help to shape the REC's value proposition in the way you believe works best for the industry - using your own experience, knowledge, and network to ensure that the industry is best placed to support the growth of businesses and the prosperity of workers for the UK's economic success.
REC will:
- Ensure that the council has a diverse representation that broadly reflects the make-up of REC membership
- Ensure you have dates for 3 meetings per calendar year and provide and agenda and questions for discussion in advance of the meetings
- Ask for your input on live opportunities or challenges in between meetings via email or online forum
- Ensure your feedback and input reaches the board and is considered during decision making
- Promote your role and involvement as councillors
Our expectations of council members are:
- That they attend at least 2 meetings a year in person (London based)
- That their input represents their membership demographic (e.g. that thoughts are tested with other members and not only a personal view)
- That they are responsive to requests for ad-hoc input
- That they play an active role in identifying and sourcing good practice or case studies that are representative of their business demographic
- That they promote and share relevant REC activity (e.g. member polls, events, advice)
- That they encourage new members to become involved with the REC
