Former PM Liz Truss was steadfast (for a few weeks) on her plans for growing the economy through radical tax cuts and the ‘sunsetting’ of EU legislation. A few weeks on and at the time of writing we have a new Chancellor in Jeremy Hunt, and a u-turn on almost all of the tax-cutting proposals the previous Chancellor announced in the ‘mini-budget’. So much dramatic politics in the pursuit of “growth growth growth” as the (now former) PM put it in her speech to party conference. However, it doesn’t have to be as difficult as this.
