REC response to Home Office on IDVT

Immigration

Following the REC's letter to Tom Pursglove earlier this year, the Home Office has now written to the REC to respond to our initial letter. In the letter, the Home Office explains their rationale behind the costs of using IDVT technology. The full text of the letter from the Home Office can be viewed here.

Whilst it is good that the Home Office has agreed to the introduction of the grace period as campaigned for by the REC, their response around costs remains unsatisfactory. The REC has therefore sent a further letter to Tom Purglove rebutting the explanations offered by the Home Office and urging them to take further action. The REC maintains that the need to reduce costs is crucial to allowing the efficient integration of IDVT for employers to check right to work.

The REC will continue to lobby government on this issue to ensure a fair approach is implemented. We’d appreciate any feedback from you on this issue so we can make as strong a case as possible to the government to ensure the costs issue is addressed.
