Nigel Farage Wants to Take British Workers Back to the Bad Old Days - REC

Press releases

Responding to UKIP leader Nigel Farage’s statement that he would scrap the ban on discrimination on the grounds of race or colour, Recruitment and Employment Confederation chief executive, Kevin Green says:

"Getting rid of race equality rules that would mean workers could be blatantly discriminated against on the basis of their race would be an appalling step backwards for our modern, dynamic labour market.  As well as opening the door for outright discrimination such a move would leave no room to challenge unconscious bias in workplace.

"Recruiters help candidates find the right role for their skills, and employers find the best person for the job, regardless of race or gender. What people look like or where they come from should never, ever be the basis of a hiring decision. It's a person’s capability and attitude which is important for British businesses not their skin colour.

"What Nigel Farage seems to be suggesting would be a return to the bad old days."
