New Chairman Joins REC Engineering and Technical Sector Group.

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has appointed a new chairman to the REC Engineering and Technical sector group.

Simon Conington, director at BPS world, came into the position at the beginning of the year and the next event for the group will be a round table event on February 13.

Simon said: “I am delighted to be appointed chair of the REC Engineering and Technical sector. The UK has a distinguished history in this sector, which currently contributes an estimated £900 billion a year to the UK economy.

“I am excited to be contributing to this thriving sector. One of the key items on my agenda is to help develop the next generation of talent to meet the known skills shortage.”

REC director of policy Tom Hadley said: “With skills and competitiveness at the top of the political agenda this is a crucial sector group for us. Specialist agencies are playing a pivotal role in helping clients access the right talent and are also feeding in to the debate on building future talent pipelines. We’re excited to work with Simon to position REC Engineering and Technical at the forefront of the political debate and to showcase the positive role of recruiters.”
