National Apprenticeship Week - Mica's Story

We've reached the last day of National Apprenticeship Week for 2016!

We've had a great week celebrating our recruitment apprentices by sharing some of their stories, and we're ending the week with Mica Hornbuckle, recruitment consultant at Frankly Recruitment.

What interested you in becoming an apprentice in recruitment?

Having worked in recruitment for a few years now I was looking to take my qualification in a way that suited my learning style, rather than an intensive course. Having the course units spread across a longer time scale has been extremely helpful and easy to follow whilst not taking up too much office time.

What do you enjoy most about being an apprentice working in recruitment?

The units have been very thorough and informative and I feel I have been able to add to my knowledge whilst putting it to practice in my day to day job role.

What's the number one thing you've learned while undertaking your apprenticeship?

Learning the individual aspects of Sales Cycle has been very beneficial to recent sales activity to track progress and build a future pipeline.

What kind of goals do you have for your career?

My future goal for my career is to continue to build and maintain strong corporate relationships with new clients. I would like to progress to a higher level consultant role in the future, (perhaps an Internal Recruiter opportunity) and would be keen to undertake HR based qualifications to add to my internal process knowledge.

What one thing would you tell yourself if you were just starting out?

To put into practice the new knowledge within your current job role to retain information quickly and effortlessly. Also, to utilise the resources offered by the recruitment tutors who have been extremely helpful throughout the process.

Would you recommend an apprenticeship in recruitment to others?

Definitely - the apprenticeship has been a great way to build upon skill-sets and provides you with easy and clever ways to retain important process information.

REC have been supportive and dedicated throughout my apprenticeship and have offered advise from recently qualified staff.
