Your recruitment career

What is a typical day like for a recruiter? We love getting the lowdown from our members and finding out more about their careers! We asked Cosimo Azzollini from CSG Talent what his day is like, and how he utilises the three languages he speaks to help both his candidates and clients alike.

My alarm goes off...

Every morning at 06.45 (although I wake up throughout the night thanks to my 2-month-old baby). Being Italian, a good cappuccino is a must every morning. Before I leave, I make sure to spend some quality time with my son, Andrea. Luckily my commute is quite short, and I use that time to talk to my family in Italy or listen to Spanish or Italian radios. As soon as I get to the office I… make myself another cup of coffee!

I’m responsible for…

I am a headhunter specialised in the renewable energy sector, specifically working within the solar photovoltaic industry. I operate predominantly throughout Europe and LATAM recruiting high-calibre candidates from Business and Project Developers, Asset/Operation Managers and Directors, as well as M&A and Financial professionals.

I got the job…

I was offered the opportunity to join CSG in January 2019 having decided to move from temporary to permanent talent search. I am passionate about renewable energy, and being from Puglia, a beautiful region in southern Italy, where the first production of solar energy was produced, it was only natural for me to be drawn towards this sector. I have always been interested in a career in recruitment, and combining this with my passion for renewable energy, it was the perfect opportunity for me!

Since the first interview I felt an instant connection with CSG, despite my three-piece bright blue suit, which, let’s say, didn’t go unnoticed. My manager, Mike, showed interest in my ability to speak different languages and the possibility of using these skills across the world with clients and candidates, within a global business like CSG, got me even more interested in the job.

My typical day…

Every day is different from the previous. When I’m in the office I constantly work on building relationships with both candidates and clients alike. I enjoy investing my time in getting to know them better and establishing a long-lasting working relationship. It’s really fun being able to do this in Italian, Spanish or English. It never gets boring! Don’t get me wrong, though, this job has its challenges. As exciting as it is, entering new markets is not always a smooth ride. It’s not easy to get through to the decision maker within a company to talk to and at times you need to knock multiple times at their door before having the chance to prove the additional value of my service, which is to partner with companies on their talent strategies.

My most memorable work moment…

I will never forget the excitement of my very first placement. It happened quite fast and I particularly enjoyed it because, having had multiple deep conversations with the candidate I knew he was right for the position, despite not showing this on paper.

I love recruitment because…

Working in this sector truely gives me, on a daily basis, the opportunity to talk to so many people, all with different ideas but with the mutual passion for the renewable energy sector. I love contributing to the positive change in my candidates’ lives as well as making my clients’ jobs easier with my assistance and consultancy.

After work…

When the office day is over, I really enjoy spending time with my wife and my son, cooking nice home-made meals together. I love travelling and exploring different cultures and cuisines. I particularly enjoy photography and watching international movies.
