Why You Shouldn’t Fear Candidate Feedback
Business advice
Flag them for removal
First things first, no business likes to be on the receiving end of a barrage of fake or malicious reviews designed to deliberately undermine all the hard work they’ve put in building up a reputable agency.
Thankfully, most review platforms understand the damage that fake reviews can have on a business, and have protocols in place that allow you to flag any reviews for removal that are obviously fake, defamatory or just plain offensive.
But what about malicious reviews left by genuine candidates that have simply had a bad experience with your agency?
Take control of the conversation
These negative reviews offer a great opportunity to position your agency in a positive light. Take control of the conversation by responding quickly and being seen to tackle the issues raised head on.
A prompt and detailed response paints you as a transparent, trustworthy agency that cares about your candidates’ wellbeing; and displays a willingness to learn, improve and, where necessary, admit when you’re in the wrong.
Follow these four simple steps when responding to malicious reviews to help avoid a potentially prickly situation:
- Respond quickly and appropriately
- Be polite and thank them for their feedback
- Acknowledge the issue and take responsibility
- Take action and offer a solution
Listen and learn
Whatever you do, don’t ignore negative reviews! Letting them go unanswered shows a lack of consideration for the candidate that’s left the feedback, and no matter how scathing the review, you will come out looking the better half if you acknowledge and attempt to resolve the problem.
There is also a wealth of insight to be gained from listening to negative reviews, that can be used to improve your service going forward. Collecting feedback at each point of a candidate’s recruitment journey can help you to identify the root of your negative feedback, and allow you to start ironing out the issues; ultimately leading to happier candidates and your agency making more placements.
