#TREC 2015 – What’s It All About?
Advice for employers
Blog written by Neil Morrison, group HR director, Penguin Random House and Chair of TREC 2015
Candidate experience, employer branding, millennials, talent pools - the list of jargon used in recruitment and resourcing goes on and on. What does it all mean and does it really matter? Is anyone actually doing anything that differently to the way things were ten years ago before the recession?
In a world that’s cluttered with jargon and grandstanding, it’s often hard to get behind the rhetoric and platitudes and really start to understand what is happening in our profession and how we help our organisations to perform better. At the end of the day, that’s what we are paid to do and that’s where we should be putting our focus.
Every single session at #TREC2015 addresses a topic that matters
We do this best when we come together, discuss, debate and let down the barriers, when we share our thoughts, concerns and challenges and talk openly and honestly about our businesses and how we address their needs. Every single session at #TREC2015 addresses a topic that matters and the array of speakers and attendees means that there will be views and opinions aplenty.
It’s through this sort of event, this level of debate and this sharing of ideas that we drive the standards in our profession and the performance in our organisations. It’s a chance to take a step back and listen and learn, but also to contribute and inform. I’m not sure we’re that great at what we do, there’s room for improvement and I think we can always strive for better.
And that’s what I want to learn and take away with me; what’s going well, what’s a load of hot air and how do we take talent, resourcing and recruitment on to the next level to build and sustain a healthy and growing economy?
The Talent, Recruitment and Employment Conference 2015 is part of the Good Recruitment Campaign, which aims to promote the importance of good recruitment practice for organisational success.
