We are a small independent unit working on behalf of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, hosted by The Growth Company. The unit has been established to develop and implement the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter which is an initiative/project sponsored by the Mayor of Greater Manchester. The Charter was launched in July 2019 after a series of consultation events with employers and stakeholders to help define the 7 characteristics of good employment in Greater Manchester. We are currently working with a pilot group of employers to develop the theory into a series of practical standards that might underpin the 7 characteristics, and this culminated in a working conference held at the end of November 2019. The standards will be developed over the next 8 weeks with an intention to launch at the end of January. During the development phase we have looked at other charters/quality standards that exist and as our aim is not to duplicate but to recognise other accreditations as part of our process, we felt that the Good Recruitment Collective aligned closely with much of our aspirations and ethos. We are keen to work with the REC to enhance, rather than duplicate and wherever possible share resources and ideas to help improve employment practice across Greater Manchester.
